I love Red House Painters and, by extension, Mark Kozelek solo or Sun Kil Moon. This song is simply gorgeous. But i can see how people may not like his voice as much as i do. More Sun Kil Moon, RHP and/or MK please!!

Well at least we know why Kasabian have the higher profile - this lot are second rate at best
MMM... I knew of Grand National well before Kasabian happened so i think if anyone follows anyone it's the other way around. Grand National's album is a bit hit and miss but there are some great tunes on it, this one illustrates that more than adequately. Certainly worth trying the album though!

Shades of Dead Can Dance, with the same slightly flat vocals....which I don't mind.
i don't know about semi-tones but this is very sub-par dead can dance, and then i'm being polite. but bill, some dead can dance?

Wilco do a tribute to endless 70's solos (that's not a good thing BTW) I never quite get why the press seem to love them so. i'm sure there are better songs that they've done, but i can't be bothered to find out. they leave me kinda indifferent. another band i'd like to like but just can't seem too.

morcheeba have always hit the nail right on the head: Lounge music is meant to be forgettable. However the inclusion of country in this song almost makes it rise above the lounge benchmark

Great song to dance to. Even a not very good reggae bar band can make you dance to this song and feel blissful. That's some good songwriting somehow, even if simple, something about the joy inside it. Thanks to the passionate genius of Bob Marley.
it's more disco than reggae this song. bob took influences from everywhere. Everywhere black anyway. But i will second that passionate genius thing wholeheartedly.

't was a different time, when rhyming danger with stranger was still the pinnacle of poetry... had good hopes but it didn't work for me

why wait for a ticket to leave? why does everything have to be handed to you? build your own craft and fly to where they spawned your bellyachin'kind?

WTF...Keep your political drivel for some blog else where. If I want politics I'll watch the Communist News Network (CNN). If you feel so guilty then go help the poor and let this heartless bastard listen to music here on RP
CNN is in no way left leaning. Just coz they're perhaps a little less up Bush' ass than Fox doesn't make them commies. That's like saying that just coz something isn't white, it must be black (which BTW is how most TV presents the "facts" in the US) But you have a point: this is supposed to be about the music. And this is a lovely song by some very talented musicians (BB, Wilco and of course Woody Guthrie)

new order are fantastic. this song is lovely (although very much new order by numbers) but bitching about that is like saying fantastic gets boring. for a guy whose lyrics are his achilles heel (and leg, back and shoulder) he still knows how to convey something through his delivery. NEW ORDER RULE

after a late night, especially in summer, when the dawn breaks and the light has a blue sheen... thanks to these guys i have a word for it: Madrugada so whenever i find myself digging a rising or setting sun, i have to think about this band. o yeah, their songs are cool too, as are their gigs

i always want to like her but she rarely fails to disappoint. it's partly the way she sings but this song clearly suffers from a lack of inspiration (album deadline looming?) and dreadful lyrics. Dear Suzanne, please try harder.
