Beautiful song about statutory rape.

The Into Temptation Songfacts reports that the song was inspired by Crowded House lead singer Neil Finn witnessing members of a rugby team and a netball team pairing up, whilst staying in a New Zealand motel.

Old time goodness!

The folks that don't like this song are a pretty vocal minority. Loved this album.

Always loved this entire album!

Guess we all had to think on this one a bit. This is one of the reasons I listen to RP.

This is a superb album - blew me away in 1972 and still does so today.

Yup!

Saw these folks in Boston about the time of this release and was pretty much underwhelmed with the performance.

Damn, I like Roy.

I was such a Kottke fan in the 70s. I'm having a little trouble with this phase of his.

Had you lived through it as a teenager I suspect you would feel differently.

I know, I know, I'm in the minority, and I know  my low rating of this doesn't drop the overall 9.1 at all, 3600+ ratings, and I'm bracing for the backlash , this and a lot of the beatles stuff sucks big time and way overrated.

Not that I don't like some of their work, admire the production (the real 5th beatle) and recognize their role in RnR history, just that I like more of what they did after the band broke up.

 Well said.

Excellent transitions from Perez Prado - Mambo No. 5 to Khachaturian - Sabre Dance to Cloud Cult!  This is not my favorite song, but the intro works well with this sequence.  To me, this kind of thing is why I've listened to RP for so many years.

Pretty sure I still love this song and album.

Truth be told, I didn't usually think much of a new Beatles album when they came out because they challenged by being different (they always won me over, however).  Maybe Elbow will win me over on this one.

The whole album is very worthwhile harmonic listening.
