I'm not all that young, but I might have had the misfortune of seeing the Mentos commercial (which used this song as its jingle) before hearing this song on the radio.  So now all I hear when I hear this is "commercial jingle".

The same thing happened to me with Instant Karma...

I like their music, but the singer's voice really annoys me. Its a shame really.

edit: This is kinda overly long...

I like this album and all, but there are a couple of creepy moments on it.  This song is one of them.

Creepy music makes the world turn around.

Makes me think of the album Crack the Skye by Mastodon. Couldn't be more different from this, but its good if you're into that sort of thing.

That album cover is great.

haha. Awesome. This guy is an amazing guitar player. Didn't expect to hear him on RP.

What's the weird chiming sound in the middle of the song (that I've never heard before, even though I've been hearing this song for years)?  Kalimba or someone playing the strings on an electric guitar above the nut?  Sorta weird and distracting, maybe I've just never listened to it under headphones...

I think you're right about playing the strings above the nut. That's exactly what it sounds like.

Hmmm, I'm out of stuff to say in this song. Oh wait, no I'm not!

La la la la la la.......

Well...I like the drums at least.

The singing has always been the weakest part of Cake for me. They have awesome, groovy instrumental parts though.

You care to explain the linkage?

The fingerpicked guitar sounds similar I suppose?

Color me green w/ ENVY! That will be a great show. Love his acoustic concerts. Enjoy!

Dunno about that one, but the tickets for the other shows on the tour are crazy expensive...they START at $100 for obstructed view seating!

Meh. They do have some good songs though.

My friend lives on the 37th floor of one of these buildings! Chicago is awesome! And of course, we all love Wilco here.

Every single person in Chicago? Wow...

ZZ Top influence is pretty obvious.  Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Yeah, I always think of La Grange when I hear the guitar riff. There are only so many permutations of blues licks unfortunately.

Wow!  I can't think of a statement I disagree with more.   Everytime I saw Galactic I always thought "Amazing band, but that singer is so cheesy!"  They would always play a few killer instrumentals at the beginning of the set and get the crowd rocking, then he'd come on stage and begin the cheesefest, totally change the vibe of the show.  Then after a while, he'd exit and the band would play a few more psych/jam instrumentals and bring the crowd back to its previous hights   I never like to hear about musician's with health problems, but in Galactic's case I felt it was exactly what the band needed to do what they really wanted as musicians.

Agreed. Have you heard their recent stuff though? Its an interesting change...some of which I really like, but some I don't at all. I did see them live a while back with two members of Jurassic 5 and that was a really good show...though even then I wanted to hear more instrumental stuff!
