Just a lovely song. And this is a terrific album.

Band, partnership, ensemble of studio musicians - - Steely Dan is just a musical phenomenon that keeps getting better with age. Case in point: This track and the album from which it comes. They constantly remind me that the '70s weren't all that bad after all.

I'm used to hearing the PearJam cover of this song on a Victoria Williams tribute album(Sweet Relief). I like this but I have to admit I prefer the PearlJam version.
I'm with you. I really like the Pearl Jam version and prefer it to Victoria Williams'. Very good songwriting by Victoria.

The lyrics concerning the "wedding parade" with the "black covered caissons" have always reminded me of the funeral procession of JFK. This song is so full of evocative images, and it feels so apropos to today's events.

I guess I'm in the distinct minority. I, too, loved Exile. But, I also like Liz's new stuff, including this newest album, Somebody's Miracle. I guess sometimes we don't want people to mature.

The archetype of the "little girl" voice, Billie Holliday, was in her 20's when her greatest hits came.
Billie Holliday? Little girl voice? I don't think so.

I like the cover better than the original - - but that ain't saying much.

This was on a mix tape my first fiance made for me. Conflicting memories abound. Thankfully this fiance never made it to the wife part, or I'd be referring to her as my ex-wife.
At least she had great taste in music . . . . Imperial Bedroom is the height of Costello's stellar career (thus far).

Nice world music version of Melanie's "I Got A Brand New Pair Of Roller Skates." :?

Poignant and stirring beyond words. I won't even try. Just listen and feel.

Another guilty pleasure - - up there with Flash & The Pan's "Hey, St. Peter." I like it. :D

I believe it was Shakespeare (or Francis Bacon, depending where you come down on that controversy).

This song proudly brought to you by The Peach Growers of America United. "Move to the country and eat millions of peaches; that's all we ask."

I like this song a lot, but I guess you had to be there then to appreciate it now.

I recently bought the box set of all of Nick's albums after having just owned "An Introduction To." This song is a prime reason why the box set is essential. Nearly every song on every album is a gem. I regret we don't have more material from him. Simply beautiful music.

Romeo Void! Gee, I haven't even thought of this band in ages. Reminds me of a certain summer in the early '80s listening to KROQ at Newport Beach.

I heard Sam Moore interviewed on NPR. He claims to have always hated this song and having to sing it.

Perfect to hear on a late Friday afternoon before a three day weekend.
