I’m forever stunned by William’s segues. From Us and Them, Pink Floyd, to the newest Cure just a few days old, and they just fit together so perfectly.
Thank you!
One of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time. And I do not say that lightly. If the Stones brought this song out today, it would still kick ass. How many 47 year old songs can you say that about?
The ending… one of the best jazz jams ever. That’s how I hear it now after all these years. Perhaps to get us ready for Black and Blue, to come later. Maybe some day William will play a cut from that album…
I owned this album, but don't remember this song. In the 70s, my favorite Stones album was Black and Blue "cause it didn't sound like the Stones."
Seems the older I get, the more I like them... especially some of their really early stuff.
Sounds more like Steely Dan to me. No doubt why it was just played following Haitian Divorce.
Actually, Klemmer DID play with Steely Dan. Wikipedia says he played on The Royal Scam, which came out a year after this album.
Like many others here, when this came on, I realized I owned this album, haven't heard this song for so long, and I was trying to figure out why I had bought it at the time. Could have been I bought it after hearing The Royal Scam.
Thanks Bill and Rebecca. We don’t hear much of Pat here, but always welcome.
This is one of my many favorites of PMG. As a counterpoint, I also love Pat’s acoustic version of this song on One Quiet Night. It’s at a different tempo, much slower, but just as beautiful, played on his rich baritone guitar.
Weird. I know I’ve heard this on RP for years… I wonder why it’s showing up as “new”.
UPDATE: the song that played is a different song (not the one shown in the iOS Main Mix.
There's a few of us in the comments here who appreciate that line. Kinda surprised the Monkeys know of it, given their relative youth. maybe one of them had a parent who was a designer with some sheets of it around.
Thank you!
Not finding a website to learn more, though an interview article says she is Slovakian.
Thanks, William, for playing!

A bigger zoomable version of the album cover is here
Zoomable…yes. Still too low resolution to really see it.
And she wrote it out in Letraset What a great line!!!

Anyways, thanks Bill for the great reminder!

One of the songs that defined the 70s. Very sweet and pure voice.
Indeed, and Joni sounds so, so. young here!
Also loving all the piano-forward music on RP lately. Thank you, William!
I'm pretty sure that is an actual drummer playing that high-hat - perhaps a loop, but it doesn't sound like a synthesized beat.
Saw this live in ‘87. Real drummer, amazing musicians.
huge Weather Report influence here
Feels like the stage of resigned acceptance after "She's Gone" by Hall and Oates.
Also Ambrosia, “Holdin’ on to Yesterday”, 1975…
I"m hearing a completely different song right now. I forget who performs it, but it's a Bonobo sounding sort of thing.
Yep, me too. The song that played was not the Hania Rani. I also heard the instrumental—possibly Bonobo as you mention.

Agree. Back to the ‘70s. Love it!
