Well, I have been listening to music for a lifetime almost - I am not dead yet - These days at least half is classical. I am still firm in my view that there is not a better, multi-layered, imaginative, challenging and ultimately rewarding band than Radiohead. They will be talked about in the same tones of reverence as Bach, Mozart and Wagner one day.
For the last 15+ years I have been saying that I consider this to be the most complete piece of contemporary music I have heard. Nothing has changed my mind in the meantime.
You are playing away in the background as always and you KEEP INTERRUPTING ME! Time and again I have to stop what I am doing and delve into the detail of what you are playing.
Another lovely piece of music - Thank you, I suppose.
A thought while listening. This isn't a particularly extraordinary song. Nothing groundbreaking or exceptional regarding the craft of it or even the subject matter. However, like songs from the first Tom Petty album, Suzanne Vega's first hit, Tori Amos' first one, and even that Edie Brickill annoyance of a song, they were just different enough in tone and style at the time to make the stand out. Just a slight twist, turn of phrase, teak of tone, to make people stop and listen and grow to love and then over time given the label of "classic" (which I despise). Don't @ me, that slight tweak to make a song stand out is what the magic is all about.
Almost everyone commenting has ‘history’ with Genesis myself included.
It would be informative to hear what 20/30-somethings thing of this song. I think if I was hearing it for the first time it would still stop me and grab my attention. Such a lovely melody so delicately handled.
Solid 9 for me. I still play their albums today.
Whilst doing the crossword with a morning coffee, this track caused an eyebrow to raise and, as so often happens, I found myself digging into the comments to see what it was all about.
Whilst this track was not initially appealing and did not thrill me, what did (and does constantly) thrill me is the fact that this platform continues to offer up all that is worthy and intriguing in the world of music.
That RP exists at all in this modern world is a wonder in itself. Perhaps one day RP will be devoured by one of the world's all-too-powerful algorithmically-driven mega platforms but, for now, Muso's have never had it so good.
It's perfection.

Great to hear a truly original sound these days.
